Almost Time

Family time - some of the best times in the world.  We decided to come ring in the new year with my mom and dad.  So tonight, while a majority of the world is out partying it up, we are joking, laughing, and watching movies.

I have heard there is a saying for new year's - basically what you are doing at midnight is what you will be doing the rest of the year.  If that adage holds true, I want nothing more than what I have right now; to have my family close around me, having a wonderful night full of fun.  Nothing could really be any better than this.

I wish everyone health, wealth, and happiness for the upcoming new years.  May you get all out of your life that you want.  Always remember though that to get all that you want, you must put God in control.  You must let HIM lead your life.

Here's to a wonderful year.  Happy 2012 everyone!!!!!

HE DOES PROVIDE

Matthew 7:7  "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Today has been a wonderful day.  I was again reminded that God does provide what we need to assist us in our walk with him.
Earlier this year, my daughter was struggling in school - not because she did not understand the material but because she had a teacher who was very tough.  She was in the third grade and taking spelling tests on the states.  She spelled EVERY state correctly but failed the tests because of capitalization.  This was causing her to lose her love for learning.  Each day, I could see her eyes dim more and more when she came home from school.  Talks began between the hubby and I about homeschooling.  Neither of us wanted to see her suffer but we were split on what we should do.  The decision at that point was to leave her in school and have a meeting with her principal and teachers.

Fast forward to June.  We were having issues with our housing unit and it was decided that we would be allowed to move into a 5 bedroom home (through military housing).  This process normally takes anywhere from 1 - 3 years depending on the area.  After discussion, we decided to place our name on the list that would take about a year knowing that the outside neighborhood was not that great.  Amazingly God provided - 2 weeks after getting on the list, a house opened up and we moved.  The kids went to the public school for 1 month before we decided that homeschooling was going to be the best option.

And now I get to see just how FULLY God provides.

Our neighborhood is FULL of homeschooling mamas who have all been doing so for a LONG time!!!!  And boy, what knowledge they impart.  God provided these wonderful ladies to not only provide the answers to the questions I have but to assist our family in learning how to fully walk with Him.

How thankful I am that he placed us in such a wonderful home in a good neighborhood where I have amazing women to assist me on my journey.  He truly provides - we just have to come to him and ask.

Proverbs 24:5  "A wise man is strong, yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; for by wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety."

Here we go

Where to begin.  With 2011 coming to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the positives.  The kids and I got our daddy home and got to spend LOTS of time with him.  We moved into a 5 bedroom house so now EVERYONE has their space.  The hubby was allowed to stay in the military.  And one of my dreams came true - I got the chance to become a homeschooling mama.  We have had a a really good year all in all.

And now to look forward.  There are MANY things I would love to see happen in my life and in the life of my family.  To make that happen, I plan to hold myself accountable here, to all that want to be involved.

So here is my list of things to accomplish this year:

1.  Start going to church - EVERY Sunday and Wednesday.
2.  Get the kids active in Awanas.
3.  Get organized and declutter.
4.  Start a devotional - daily for the family, weekly for myself.
5.  Establish a better relationship with God.
6.  Enhance my relationship with my hubby.
7.  Become a better momma to my children.
8.  Become a better housekeeper.
9.  Become a better friend.
10. Transform myself into a better role model for my children and for the outsiders looking in.

Whew, that made me exhausted just writing but I KNOW that I can do it.  And I know that I NEED to do it.  I want my children to know not only how to take care of a house but also WHY we need to take care of the house.  I want them to want to help me not because they feel obligated but because to help would bring joy to their hearts.  I want my sons to know how to properly treat a woman.  I want my daughters to know how a man is supposed to treat her.  And I want all of them to know that they never have to settle for second best.  The only people who are going to teach them that are their father and me.  It's about high time we get to teaching!

I ask only 2 things from those of you who want to walk with me through this year.  1.  Support and encourage and 2.  Pray for my family.
